ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) public health emergency, the County of Sacramento has made temporary changes related to Assessment Appeals Board meetings in the best interest of the public's health.

In compliance with directives of the County, State, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), assessment appeal hearings that were scheduled April through August have been rescheduled beginning September 2020.

The Clerk's Office has limited and modified services as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Please click on “Modified Services" and refer to the Board of Supervisors and Clerk of the Board information for details.

The principal function of an appeals board is to determine the full value of property or to determine other matters of property assessment over which the appeals board has jurisdiction. Section 15606, subdivision (c), of the Government Code authorizes that the State Board of Equalization shall “prescribe rules and regulations to govern local boards of equalization when equalizing …” Pursuant to that provision, the State Board promulgated Property Tax Rule 302 which enumerates the functions of an appeals board as follows:
